Transient Analysis of Carbon Combustion in Stagnation Flow
نویسنده
چکیده
The early history of a carbon particle is studied as it is suddenly injected into a hot oxidizing atmosphere. In this early phase, a high Reynolds number approach is appropriate. Five stages characterize the processes: (I) inert stage, (2) transition stage (ignition of the heterogeneous reaction), (3) heterogeneous diffusion controlled stage, (4) homogeneous ignition, and (5) overall diffusion-controlled stage. In this last stage, the surface temperature and the regression rate reach the final equilibrium values. Using correlations for the quasi-steady gas-phase response and Green's function for the solid phase, the evolution of the surface temperature as well the regression rate are obtained.

Simulation of the Transient, Compressible, Gas-dynamic Behavior of Catalytic-combustion Ignition in Stagnation Flows
This paper develops and uses a computation model to explore the transient ignition dynamics of catalytic combustion in a stagnation-flow configuration. The analysis considers the elementary heterogeneous chemistry associated with catalytic behavior at the surface. It also considers gas-dynamic effects in the boundary layer, including temporal and spatial pressure variations. The gas-dynamic eff...
متن کاملAsthma aggravation, combustion, and stagnant air.
BACKGROUND The relationship between current concentrations of ambient air pollution and adverse health effects is controversial. We report a meteorological index of air stagnation that is associated with daily visits to the emergency department for asthma in two urban areas. METHODS Data on daily values of a stagnation persistence index and visits to the emergency department for asthma were c...

Spectral Quasi-linearization for MHD Nanofluid Stagnation Boundary Layer Flow due to a Stretching/Shrinking Surface
This article concentrates on the effect of MHD heat mass transfer on the stagnation point nanofluid flow over a stretching or shrinking sheet with homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. The flow analysis is disclosed in the neighborhood of stagnation point. Features of heat transport are characterized with Newtonian heating. The homogeneous-heterogeneous chemical reaction between the fluid and di...

The objective of this work was to develop a new design of an intake manifold through a 1D simulation. It is quite familiar that a duly designed intake manifold is essential for the optimal performance of an internal combustion engine. Air flow inside the intake manifold is one of the important factors, which governs the engine performance and emissions. Hence the flow phenomenon inside the i...
